Colquitt Christian Academy in Moultrie, Georgia, invites parents of current juniors to participate in the Touchstone Ceremony, a Christ-centered tradition that marks a meaningful milestone in a student’s high school journey.
As a classical Christian school serving Moultrie and South Georgia, CCA believes in intentionally recognizing moments of growth—academically, spiritually, and relationally. In many schools, juniors mark this season with class rings or other symbols of senior status. While those traditions can be meaningful, CCA embraces a deeper, biblically rooted practice. The Touchstone Ceremony is inspired by Joshua 4, when the children of Israel gathered stones from the Jordan River as a lasting reminder of God’s faithfulness during their journey
As parents, we don’t often take time to publicly speak blessings over our children. Outside of baby dedications and weddings, these moments can be rare. Yet Scripture reminds us of the power of spoken affirmation and prayer.
During the Touchstone Ceremony, parents stand with their junior and:
- Speak words of encouragement and affirmation
- Share prayers, Scripture, or personal stories
- Publicly recognize the growth they’ve seen in their child
- Present a meaningful object chosen specifically for their student
The object itself can be anything that holds significance—a piece of jewelry, a special coin, a pocket watch, or another meaningful item that will remind the student of God’s faithfulness and their parents’ prayers throughout the years
Held following chapel on campus in Moultrie, the ceremony brings together families, faculty, and classmates to celebrate spiritual maturity and the strong partnership between home and school that defines Christian education in South Georgia. The event concludes with a brunch provided by the sophomore class, reflecting the close-knit community that sets CCA apart among private schools in Moultrie, GA.
